President Trump recently nominated Michael Kubayanda to be the fifth Postal Regulatory Commissioner. He would bring the Commissioner to full complement, joining Chairman Robert Taub, Vice Chairman Tony Hammond, and Commissioners Nanci Langley and Mark Acton.
While swift Senate confirmation is not likely, it is possible Mr. Kubayanda could become a Commissioner in time to vote on the ten-year regulatory review proposal. With three Commissioners already wavering in their support of the Chairman’s proposal, the possibility of a new Commissioner adds another wild card.
Mr. Kubayanda’s experience at the USPS Office of Inspector General from 2011-2015, and with the House Oversight Committee from 2009-2011 mean he will be able to hit the ground running at the PRC.
