Alliance Board Welcomes Wounded Warrior Project

Alliance Report – October 7, 2014

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), which provides vital support to wounded veterans of this generation, is joining the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers (ANM), the nation’s only organization that exclusively represents the mailing rights and needs of nonprofits. As a nonprofit that serves a widespread community through ongoing outreach, WWP relies on affordable, reliable mail service in order to fulfill its mission. This year alone, WWP expects to send more than 60 million pieces of mail as a key component of its multichannel communications strategy. It also receives a significant amount of its donations, 30 percent, directly through the mail.

Meta Brophy, the president of the board of the Alliance, welcomed John Hamre, executive vice president of direct response, who will represent WWP on the board of ANM.

“As we prepare to enter our 35th year, we are extremely happy to have one of the nation’s largest and well-respected charitable organizations join our board,” Brophy said. “Wounded Warrior Project will add a wealth of expertise and leadership to our strong community of nonprofits who use mail as a critical tool to achieve our missions.”

“We have belonged to the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers for several years and have been extremely impressed by its effectiveness,” said Hamre. “Now, as we celebrate our 10 years of service to wounded veterans and their families, we want to step up our involvement in the public discourse about the future of our nation’s mail service.”
“Significant changes are happening at the Postal Service right now,” Hamre said. “It’s critical to understand how many impactful charities continue to rely on mail to raise funds, communicate with members and donors, and deliver publications.”
